Most moisturizers are primarily water with a handful of actives suspended in filler. The SD-05 Face Balm takes the opposite approach; a concentrated, oil-based formula using the highest-quality botanicals available, with no water to dilute them.

Sea Buckthorn is one of the most nutrient-dense skin oils on earth, loaded with Omega-3, 6, 7, and 9 fatty acids that repair skin structure and fight chronic inflammation.

Bakuchi Oil is a natural alternative to retinol; it promotes cell turnover, fades scarring and hyperpigmentation, and firms the skin over time without the irritation retinol can cause.

Calendula and St. John's Wort calm redness and accelerate healing.

Apricot Kernel, Jojoba, and Camellia absorb cleanly, sealing everything in without clogging pores.

Quick note: Unlike commercially available Lime Oils, which are considered highly photosensitizing, our cold-pressed lime essential oil is non-phototoxic and appropriate for use in skin care or anywhere photosensitivity is a concern.

ON THE PACKAGING

Most brands use plastic or clear glass. UV light degrades active ingredients, so to compensate, they add synthetic preservatives to keep the formula stable long enough to sit on a shelf.

We use UV-protected amber + violet glass. The formula stays fully potent from the first use to the last, and we don't need a single artificial preservative to make that happen. It also means less plastic in landfills, which is a side benefit worth mentioning.
